Jason Pebworth was Judas. Manoel Felciano was his understudy. Pebworth hurt his voice early in previews and Manoel went in with no rehearsal in the middle of a preview. Meanwhile, Tony Vincent was playing Simon and understudying Jesus. After a few previews of Manoel as Judas, they asked Tony to go as Judas with very little rehearsal. ALW came to one of Tony's previews as Judas and liked what he saw. Jason came back as Judas and was thrilling but ALW was in love with Tony's Judas so Jason was fired. The show opened with Tony as Judas and Michael K Lee (the Simon understudy who also went on with little rehearsal) as Simon, I benefitted because I was then chosen to be one of 2 Simon understudies (Daniel Levine was the other) and I got to go on 5 times.

Those are the facts.
