Do Americans in particular love contests? According to whom and compared to whom? Regardless, some Americans obviously don't. Just for the record, YOU introduced the word "Americans" into the conversation. I never said anything specifically about "Americans" loving contests. I think it's human nature that most people do, regardless of nationality. Now, one's involvement in watching a contest may have a lot to do with the particulars - but in general, I think most people like being caught up in the excitement of who will win something - whether that be a sporting event, a lottery, a game show, the glut of awful singing shows on primetime TV (yup, showing my bias there - I despise each and every one of those shows), a horse race, or an awards competition. But I never said anything about Americans.
