I don't hear any significant difference between Moreno's accent in the film and Wand's. On the one hand, Moreno should know better than me because of her heritage, but on the other hand, she isn't exactly a disinterested party. P.S. I'm not sure if your transcription of "who'd kill your brother" is yours or Moreno's, but at any rate, Wand does not sing that line with anywhere near so exaggerated an accent. As for slapping that brown makeup on the Sharks, however good or bad a decision that may have been, I assume the main point was to try to make them look different from the "Americans," not to make them all look "Mexican." Did Moreno really say that? If so, it's a very bad way to phrase it because, in reality, SOME Puerto Ricans are as dark or darker than some Mexicans -- and vice-versa.
