One aspect of value that poor people like me consider can indeed be measured in dividing cost of the ticket by length of the show, or to put it another way, what and how much am I getting for my entertainment dollars? This isn't an unusual consideration for those of who scrimp for a night out now and then. If one has unlimited dollars to spend or freebies to get in it's a different matter. I would never pay the same for a one person play on a bare stage as I would for a full blown big musical with lots of sets and costumes. In the case of this show at the Pulblic, creative merit being the same and assumably very high, if it is a choice between deciding whether to spend $150 going out to a show of 2.5 hours where I get to be comfortably sitting down versus 80 minutes of having to be on my feet dancing as part of the chorus, I'm going to go with the former (not that I have $150 to spend on a show in any event, so it is a moot argument).

Your other comment about the wages of the performers doesn't have any bearing, they are on contracts and get paid the same wage every week whether the house is empty or full, the price of tickets has nothing to do with their salary, unless they are stars getting a cut of the house, which I doubt is the case here.

I'm curious how much you paid to see this show?
