A number of years ago when I saw JRB in concert he mentioned that he was working on 'Bridges of Madison County' and the audience started to laugh - they thought he must have been joking, and he had to say, "No, no, really".

Perhaps a lot of people think of this property as a bit of a joke and just aren't willing to pay Broadway prices on the off chance it might actually be any good.
