"The Heir Apparent" at CSC--Don't miss it!!

Posted by: Vivian 06:56 pm EDT 03/30/14

Well, I never would have believed David Ives could do it again after the extraordinary "School for Lies"--but he's actually topped himself.

"The Heir Apparent" achieves the same impossible trick, marrying the sensibilities of !8th Century French comedy (in verse--which has never sounded better or more witty) with current, modern jokes to hilarious effect.

The cast is perfection--particularly adored Paxton Whitehead and Dave Quay and Suzanne Bertish and
David Pittu and every other cast member. This entire production is COMIC GOLD. I'm definitely going back.

Don't miss it!!

row B on the side (TDF) was about four inches above row A -- i (5'6") could only see between the guy and gal in front. The small lady two seats to the right of me had a romantic tall couple who even blocked the gap. Row C seemed OK?

Row C is very good, especially the portion that's closer to the main section.

I missed half of it.

Boring, predictable (we've all seen this before), and, except for Whitehead, student grade acting. I'll leave my verse play going to Richard II and Moliere. Sorry to so strongly disagree, Vivian, but that's what makes it Show Biz.

Dear Stan,

Sorry you didn't like it much, Stan. I thought it was the absolutely ideal cast in something really special. I hope this thread gets really long as I'm interested in hearing different takes on it.
