Jesse--

Did Godot actually announce recoupment? While it definitely seems likely, I don't believe I saw an article on this one...

Did they just not announce it, but its commonly known?

thanks

I jumped the gun perhaps. Like AC126748, I was going by the Patrick Healy article cited in his post below.

Neither can I find any official confirmation.

although it averaged $623K over 23 weeks. Usually $400K range for 20 weeks is enough for a play unless stars are taking a huge chunk or its a huge show. I'd find it hard to believe that it didn't recoup. However, the Equus revival averaged $520K over 23 weeks and supposedly didn't recoup. Equus sold $11.952M compared to NML/WFG $14.346M. In any event, the investors got probably a huge chunk of it back if the show didn't recoup.

since the stars were also producers of the show, it seems unlikely they took out a huge chunk as salary. This is also a production as to which I would think an announcement would be unexpected.

I cannot find an article that definitively announces recoupment, but I did find this in an article about the Rylance Shakespeare plays recouping, dated January 9:

Another Broadway double bill, “Waiting for Godot” and “No Man’s Land,” starring Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, also appears likely to recoup its investment before performances conclude on March 30.
