Perhaps you're right. But I do think the rules are clearer than some of the recent interpretations might have one believe. Like allowing eligibility for new actors in a play that's not a revival. Remember 'Time Stands Still," when Christina Ricci was deemed eligible for a Tony? That was a clear WTF moment, in my opinion. If the play had been running consistently and changed actresses, the replacement clearly would have been ineligible. but because there was some period of time between the MTC staging and its move to the Cort, then the replacement is eligible? Same with the "White Christmas" actors who replaced the originals. It hadn't been three years, so in the rules of the Tonys it couldn't be considered a revival. So how were the replacements eligible? Some of those decisions seem blatantly against some pretty clear rules. Then there are the wack-a-doodle interpretations like calling "After Miss Julie" a revival. Most of us on this board could do a better job interpreting the rules then the committee does.
