Perhaps he has ADD. He's very good in comedy. I thought he was well cast on 30 Rock and in The Performers.

I didn't see THE PERFORMERS, and while you'd be hard-pressed to find a bigger 30 ROCK fan, his character never really stood out to me. I have to agree with the previous poster that in the instances where I've seen Jackson (Finian's, Damn Yankees, and Xanadu), I've found him largely bland--and in comedies like Xanadu, I didn't find him particularly funny.

I thought he was funny and perfectly cast in Xanadu, which may not seem like praise but he was very good.

He was wonderful in the It's a Bird, It's a Plane staged reading as well. Light self-mockery is his metier.

He's handsome and sings nicely, but I've found him somewhat over-praised, particularly on these boards. He's an okay actor, but has yet to demonstrate much range, even in the harrowing 9/11 movie (he did what was required, the roles were limited, to be fair). The comparison to Pasquale is fair, because the difference in emotional investment, a kind of gravitas, is considerable. XANADU was ideal for Jackson. If he has many other colors, he should use them. We haven't seen them, yet.

Whatever, he was far from one note or boring at Birdland on Saturday night.

He was actually quite funny in "The Performers". Some object that he or his acting partner threw went awry at the performance I went to, and he made it into some extra funny business.
