Streisand has her moments in the film, and it is a BIG film, but her lip-synching in this is atrocious at times (it's no wonder she avoided future film musicals if possible). Seeing Liza last night at Stonewall (they showed "Cabaret", the film, because a few customers had just seen the new, er, old, revival and were complaining, anyway, Liza sure could lip-synch.)

And if you look at the Kit Kat Club in the film, it is a seedy, seedy dive. Just the type a self-deluded, dazzling diva would thrive, and want to stay. She's the big fish in a small pond, and she loves the attention. Can she sing? Of course!
