re bad example. I think that's an interesting question. First of all, Joey can charge what he wants, but people may or may not buy what he is selling at that price. And if they don't, he is in deep dish trouble because I am sure he has budgeted around that. Second, I am not sure this is really an example of much for off-B, because to me this is a special event, and not something that is precedent setting. Third, I doubt seriously this could have been done without a budget of this type and also remember that, as I mentioned elsewhere, this would have been a Broadway show charging these or higher prices had it been logistically possible. So an audience member is getting a more intimate experience for a slightly lower price. (Assuming there is demand at the price.) Finally, for the Public, I am not sure I know what the precedent is. On the one hand, the Public has repeatedly shown itself to be "hungry" for commercial profit. On the other, would you have them impose pricing contractually? (If so, is it not likely this show would not be coming back at all? The real question at bottom is how important is the afterlife to the Public's mission. (And then, perhaps the harder question, why?)
