This is my memory: the tour began with Orbach, but without Rivera and Verdon. Business was very bad with two unknowns in the leads, so Rivera and Verdon were brought in to head the road company.I believe the NYC production had long since closed. I got to see the show twice in Chicago at the Blackstone. It was thrilling for me, and the only time I got see Gwen Verdon on stage. Ialso got to see Katharine Hepburn and Maggie Smith at the Blackstone.
