| Menzel to sing from "If/Then" on TODAY Thursday circa 8:45 | |

| I'll be curious to hear which song she sings ("Learn to Live Without", the "I Miss the Mountains" number from this show?) They aren't saying, but if she were to push "Frozen" more, she'd be on ABC, owned by Disney. My guess is, it's all "If/Then." By the way: how tough are the vocal demands of Elizabeth? (Compared to Elphaba) Yesterday was a two show day, and she's singing at 8:30 in the a.m. She is truly a powerhouse. | |

| I love Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey's newest score, and these are two of my favorite and loveliest tunes from ''If/Then.'' I think that Beth/Liz has more stage time than Elphaba, so I'm guessing ''If/Then'' is the tougher show to sing. I also don't know how Idina manages to belt ''Always Starting Over,'' her knockout 11 o'clock number 8 times a week. She's amazing. On ''Today,'' Idina also talks about her Billboard cover, John Travolta and singing ''Let It Go'' at the Oscars. It's so rare to see a Broadway musical-theater actress achieve this kind of success on-screen, onstage and CDs. Brava! | |

| She appeared on screen in Enchanted, Glee, and Rent (among others). It's not like she was a total unknown before her voice work in Frozen. | |

| Sure. But her level of celebrity is much higher now. Nothing she had done before allowed her to open a Broadway musical (where she's the principal draw), perform at the Academy Awards and make the cover of Billboard magazine. | |

| Is that necessarily true? She was the Tony-winning star of WICKED a show that is so popular (pardon the pun) it is said to be the most profitable venture - movies included - in the history of Universal. Sure FROZEN and "Adele Dazeem" only raised her fame factor but it seems that Menzel was definitely poised for this next step. | |

| I'm not arguing with that, I'm just saying that she didn't achieve her success without appearing onscreen. But maybe I misunderstood the post I was replying to. | |

| My point is that this her breakout performance she was NOT onscreen. Yes, I knew about her previous onscreen work. | |

| I agree, I am not sure why this argument is taking place. Anyone have any thoughts on her performance today on tv? I was surprised she allowed James Snyder to appear with her (pandering to the mid-20's ladies who remember him from those awful tv shows) -- he is so carefully blocked in If/Then as to never upstage or pull focus from Idina...probably why they have no chemistry together on stage.... Those are my thoughts... | |

| Can't disagree more. They have chemistry and sound glorious together. And they look like they enjoy each other's company. I seriously doubt they included Snyder to appeal to fans of his one-shot TV sppearances (i.e., ''Without a Trace,'' ''Cold Case''). He's probably there to plug the fact (to the largely female viewers) that there's a love story in ''If/Then.'' | |

| Totally agree. Their chemistry is palpable and the song is sexy and winning. She sings it to him, even on TODAY. | |
