the better question, in the 21st century, is: what possible sense can one attach to the meaning of "I feel passionately that they are a heritage too easily lost, and one which requires all due diligence to preserve." Short of some unimaginable digital holocaust, I cannot imagine how this heritage could be lost. Misplaced, sure. But lost?
