but really, can't they broadcast some new pieces of theater like they used to with the Audience, habit of Art and Frankenstein. I almost feel they don't want to cut into future business if the show transfers to the west end or broadway and are picking shows that won't ever transfer.

What high profile new pieces have they had this season? Curious Incident and The Audience weren't that long ago and didn't hurt transfer talks. I think it has more to do with their sched and their audience, which disappears for new plays without a star or intense buzz.

there were stats for one show recently, and twice the amount of people saw it in britain than the US--and our population is probably 5 or 6 times more. And i really do believe (but nothing to back it up) that the British love shakespeare more than Americans (although i was surprised at the popularity of RichIII/12thNight on broadway.

so I think NTLive is picking shows that British audiences want to see more than what I want to see--how dare they!

i'd love to see the Light Princess, but that might have commercial potential. I just noticed that A Small Family Business is being broadcast--i must have missed that announcement.
