In what way does Bridges demonstrate that Francesca's marriage becomes better after the affair?

I was at an event where leads O'Hara and Pasquale, and director Sher, were interviewed about BRIDGES. They seemed to be saying (O'Hara in particular) that the only moral justification for giving her affair a pass was that maybe it made her stop taking her family for granted, and they wanted to bring that out.

But I agree with you - it wasn't visible on stage.
