Seems like you would need permission to add a character.

Would they need permission to double the wolves?

Although the text wasn't changed (except for the brief wolves/wolfs farewell) - is this the sort of thing that they'd get permission for?

I thought it worked well and explicitly makes the connection between the wolf and the prince(s).

I was very impressed by this production!

The excellent Monique Hafen's take on Cinderella reminded me of what I assume Laura Benanti's would've been, had she not been sick the night I saw the revival in NY (dammit!). Also, I wracking my brain to figure out where I've seen Louis Parnell (Narrator) before.

Reading Wikipedia, I see that 2 wolves were used in 2002 (nm)

Surprised I don't remember it - although I was less familiar with it at the time.

As Sharon said it is an opinion in the license show as long as the boy remains silent. He does in this production.

I know a boy was added in/for the 2010 Regent's Park production in London -- although it doesn't sound like the character is exactly the same.

ANYWAY, it may be an option in the licensed version now.
