Forbidden broadway--anyone see it?

Wondering what recent shows are spoofed. I don't want to go if it is mostly old stuff like Annie, les mis and phantom.

They spoofed "Once" and "The Book of Norman" along with "Jersey Boys", "Wicked", "The Lion King", "The Phantom of the Opera", "Chicago" and "Les Miserables"

However they did not spoofed newer productions like "Kinky Boots", "Matilda", "Hedwig" "Newsies" or "Beautiful".

Yep there did a parody of "Annie" singing "tomorrow is Yesterday" and "Mary Poppins"

Oh did I see it. NO I got this information from Robert Hurwitt review where he was un impressed.

I saw it last Friday and really enjoyed it. I've seen over 10 versions of Forbidden shows in various venues and cities over the years. And the cast here is made up of solid veterans. And I love that it's in a nightclub and not a theatre. But if you're looking for new material, don't bother. It's been years since I've attended Forbidden and I think only two of the numbers were new to me (Once parody was one of them). Annie, Les Mis, Phantom, Lion King, Chicago, etc. All old standard parodies, but well done. The Chronicle gave them a tepid review since only two of the shows parodied were from recent Broadway productions. On the positive side, the showroom was almost full, so hopefully they'll return with newer material.

FB does have newer material, but do they only show the older parodies because they feel SF audiences -- or wherever they perform outside NYC -- in no way could understand or relate to the new spoofs? Do they think only NYC audiences will 'get' the newer material?

Yes the little man was just sitting with his hat in his hand. I had seen it so many times in New York, Los Angeles and even San Diego and after reading Robert Hurwitt's review we decided not to see the production.

Annie (but not the "30 years old tomorrow"
one) and Les Mis are (have been) in the new one in NY.
