On Broadway, ONCE is at the 1,000-seat Jacobs. The movement, lighting, and especially the live on-stage music (piano, guitar, band, etc.) are intimate and visceral. Hollywood's Pantages seats 2,700. Terrible match of show and venue. (Even the barn that is the Ahmanson only seats 2,100.) Sorry, L.A. :(

(And pity that this reviewer — only able to repeatedly compare this touring production to the original film — doesn't seem to have seen the Broadway production.)
