...and it applies to music as well (that final chord/sting/note in the orchestra at the end of the song). Or it can also be used to mean the strong gesture (musically or physically) that ends a phrase or section, not just the literal end of the song.

And of course it can be used as a noun or a verb. "To button" a song is the same as "to put a button on the song."
