I thought the actor playing Peter had a lovely little voice but played the entire show far too bubbly for a boy who is supposed to be going through great depression at the loss of his father. Yes, Highmore really was a singular actor but I have seen plenty of very strong child stage actors and, for me, the relationship between Barrie and Peter is so key to the entire storyline. Personally, I felt they spent far more time developing Porthos (loved the dancer portraying him!) than Peter.
