Perfectlyfrank never suggested that the show should "just" concentrate on the relationships between those characters, but of course it's true that there needs to be a strong emotional core in those relationships for this show to be as moving as it should be, over and above the musical comedy elements. Certainly, what I remember most clearly from the film is the relationships between those characters.
