| He and his wife also have a young child, so it's also possible he wants a more regular schedule that will keep him in one place. And it probably doesn't hurt that he would likely have a lot of control over his schedule as well. If he were to do the broadcast from New York (I think Ferguson does it in LA), he might even be able to do a Broadway show concurrently, if he really wants to do it. But I agree...if the report is true, it's certainly an odd career move for someone who has only recently broken through to become a big time theatre star and seems on the verge of breaking big in film. I think he's already a pretty big name in television in the UK, thanks to GAVIN AND STACY, which he co-created and co-wrote as well as starred in. I also love his recurring (if twice can be considered recurring) character on DOCTOR WHO. | |

| Isn't in the 20-40m range? This would be a stepping stone to those gigs since he is very young. That's a solid yearly salary, unlike the movie industry where he probably wouldn't make more than a few million per movie. I don't see him as big as Adam Sadler or Jim Carey making those huge 8 digit pay checks. | |

| It looks like Ferguson's estimated salary is around $12 million a year, which certainly makes his job seem attractive. I would agree that being a late night host is not the route to becoming a movie star (Neil Patrick Harris was offered the job and turned it down), but I'm not sure Corden wants to be a movie star. He's done a fair number of hosting gigs and other "personality" type stuff in the UK. I think he'd do well as a late night TV host. | |

| Letterman commands that kind of money because he's Letterman and also has his hand in a number of projects through his own production company. He is a silent producer in a lot of projects in the entertainment field, including theater. Corden would maybe see roughly $5 million to host the Late Late Show - if even that. It took years for Ferguson to build up to making more than $10 million. So yes, the money is better than broadway, not as good as if he was a major blockbuster film star, but if he was to host the show, it would definitely be a great steady income over a long period of time and would enable him to build a brand for himself and that's the trick right there. | |

| What and exactly how - I honestly don't know - but he was just very forthcoming about it in the pits at the Indy 500. I've had the pleasure of a pit pass a few times and always run into him there - honestly - it's rather adorable - he is a *HUGE* Indy 500 fan, and has part ownership of a racing team, of course. He also tends to be one of those donors commonly listed as "anonymous." Someone in the pits asked him why he keeps it "anonymous" and he replied with "I put my name down and then it just becomes about my involvement, rather than what we're trying to do here." Fair enough. | |
