It looks like Ferguson's estimated salary is around $12 million a year, which certainly makes his job seem attractive. I would agree that being a late night host is not the route to becoming a movie star (Neil Patrick Harris was offered the job and turned it down), but I'm not sure Corden wants to be a movie star. He's done a fair number of hosting gigs and other "personality" type stuff in the UK. I think he'd do well as a late night TV host.
