It's pretty crazy to not go to the Beaumont-it might run longer than if they were going into the St. James. (They'd have a built in audience.)

The only other rumor that's been bandied about is that The Visit might go to the Beaumont, but that would be a really quick transfer (even quicker than Side Show).

Just about everyone I know is saying that either THE VISIT or SIDE SHOW should go to the Beaumont. Can we assume that those involved with both productions have thought of this and have approached LCT, or not necessarily?

I think Side Show has been (misguidedly in my opinion) aiming to be a commercial production from the get go. The Visit could certainly work with LCT (I don't pretend to know if they're involved at this stage).

I think they expect a long commercial run for side show

I like the score and show a lot, I think the improvements were great at Kennedy center, but I just don't see it doing great business for a year on broadway. I really think that with the very good to stellar review in dc, the show still couldn't sell out the smallish Eisenhower the last weekend on a Saturday night. Some argue that it's dc, but there have been plenty of shows that sell in dc.

Oh I love the score (except they cut my favorite scene) and would gladly go see it. That said, I'm not the typical theatergoer. I like smaller, darker musicals (I wager 95% of the board could name my top 5 musicals of all time). The key audience demographic here won't buy into this show unless you put A-listers in the leads.

Here's my guess for your 5 favorite musicals: Sweeney Todd, Next to Normal, Fun Home, Urinetown, and The Scottsboro Boys. Am I close?

Hint: I like Sondheim a lot but Sweeney isn't my favorite. (Next to Normal and Fun Home are correct.)
