But the stop clause could be put into effect-there are tons of shows waiting for theaters that size.

It's when it falls below 60 or 70 % of potential gross for so many weeks. Soma few bad weeks wouldn't kill a show. But remember that the theater owner gets money on percentage (5-7% range) of gross. So there is incentive of them to have a clear cut way to end a show instead of a more ambiguous "when it's losing money" standard. I've never actually seen a lease agreement, so I don't know what the parameters are, just rumored.

It's most likely below minimum grosses over x weeks. But I always wonder if shuberts want to kick out a $500k grossing show that plays 52 weeks over $1m show that plays 16 weeks. Dark theaters between shows aren't making money.

In this market, they wouldn't stay dark for long. "The Audience" followed by something else?
