May be neither...feels like "we have an idea, so let's put it out there and see what the reaction is" press release. Like many of these, it could just disappear.

actually, although there are certainly some shows that feel like aspirational press releases, this is not one of them. That is not the way Richards/Frankel operate.

"That is not the way Richards/Frankel operate" sounds like a rule

I thought there are none?

I guess that was an exception to the rule

That was Richard Frankel, not Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel

We need some new names producing on Broadway don't we?

if you mean rules...
there are no rules as to how one can make theatre. That does not mean that individual people who make theatre do not behave in predictable ways. To suggest that we cannot predict individual behavior is silly, and I have never suggested any such thing.

So Flashdance is coming to Broadway?

You must pardon my confusion about your dictums, but perhaps you can forgive it in light of the fact that my understanding of the theatre and those who work in it, like that of all others who read and post on this board, is so much less than yours...

1. There is nothing I have said that provides any basis for intuiting that. I can't even imagine what combination of premises leads you to that conclusion.

2. There is also nothing I have said that provides any basis for intuiting that I have any greater understanding than you or anyone else.

3. I would assume you have come across people who say they are going to do something and then reliably do it, whereas you have come across others who say something that is simply aspirational. This is no different from that.

I can't say I disagree with you

It seems like half the shows with press releases for a production in the near future don't go anywhere.

As I say above, in general yes, but not this one. In fact, I think your sentiment is better directed to the other press release below.

Which one? Fun Home? That has a preview start, an opening date, and a theater management if not yet a specific theater. Or do you mean something else?

yes, that's what I meant-which is not to suggest that I don't think it will come in or shouldn't. But it has more aspirational lead producers. Just to be clear-I am far more interested in it coming in. But it is a harder sell.
