It's been bruited here before, but Jack Black would be an exciting choice, and would also pull in audiences. He's expressed an interest in doing a musical, and he demonstrated in Bernie that he has the chops.

I mentioned Jack Black the other day - kind of kiddingly - but after thinking about it a bit, now I'm not so sure ... I like AlanScott's suggestion of Norbert Leo Butz ... and lowwriter mentions Christian Borle above, which is an interesting thought ...
