What an indulgent stretch, bringing in her perfume ad. Pretty tired of BB's style by now. Ugh.

Foot fetish at "The Maids"

I was at CC last night. I did not read the review until this morning. To me, he sounds like many who have seen the show. It did not work but it was, at least, interesting.
A few random thoughts....
There are really some head-scratching moments. The casting of Huppert makes really no sense to me. She does not even try to speak English, she seems to be making fun of a French stereotype. But...she was funny at points (if that was in the original text, I do not know). I guess I will never understand why she was cast. She could have played the Madame role. Her language is so far removed from both Blanchett and Debicki (and those two really looked alike).
The camera shots and angles were distracting, at times. If yo are into feet, or have a foot fetish, you should have a grand time at "The Maids."
Blanchett was grand, as in look-I-am-so-brave, but she seemed to be in another play altogether. But she is so good. She plays the last part as Blanche.
The new translation with its "c**ts" and f-words did not do much for me.
The best part, and that is saying something, is when Debicki appears.
It has been a while since I read the text but I remember enjoying it, although it is not one of my favorite plays.
If you do not have tickets, you are not missing much. And it is two hours (it started late).

I too saw it last night but got something totally different that a foot fetish. It was more about hushed conversations in an intimate setting.

I found Huppert's voice to be a major distraction and exhausting. Loved everything else.
