Stripped down to the essence of comedy, Goes Radio Active won’t cloud your auditory experience with fancy sets, costumes and lights. Instead the Lobsters have committed to supporting their supreme writing and performing talent and will wow you with their auditorially creative comedy. The auricular extravaganza doesn’t stop there. Incorporating some of the more successful elements of our KMLZ productions, which will see its third iteration this December, the Lobsters have invited two bands to kick off the shows each weekend. The first weekend will bring vocalist Tossie Long and her soul-funk band to the Lobster fans. Then Bay Area’s favorite one man band, 1manbanjo, will get feet tapping and hands clapping as the audience sings along with this wacky show opener in the second weekend.Goes Radio Active follows closely on the heels of Co-Creative Director Allison Page’s summer project KML Takes It All Off which premiered at the Fury Factory and was featured at CalShakes’ Fridays at the Grove. That show kicked off the new KML aesthetic where the emphasis is on solid comedic writing and performance. This bare bones show featured 5 performers with no costumes, props, sound or sets. Goes Radio Active is also timed to coincide with the release of KML’s brand new podcast set to release this Fall. Moonlight and Magnolias It’s 1939, and legendary movie producer David O. The Marsh presents 18-year-old visionary Dezi Gallegos’ GOD FIGHTS THE PLAGUE. This solo show starring Gallegos, directed by Charlie Varon, chronicles the comic and moving journey of a young man who sets out to determine if there is one God, no god, or many gods. For this original documentary theater piece, Gallegos interviewed individuals from nine different religions and recreated their words, wisdom, and wit onstage. From a rabbi who moonlights as a singing drag queen and an Elvis-worshipping witch, to the California State Director of American Atheists and a man who found Jesus in the back of a bus, Gallegos recreates his conversations with a wide variety of followers in his quest to know why we’re here, where we’re going, whether our ship has a captain or if we’re sailing on our own – ultimately creating a performance that rekindles faith in humanity.
