I'm not sure I buy the whole Bell story anyway. According to the timeline, when they asked Bell, she had already announced her pregnancy. So what did they expect to do with a Peter in his third trimester?

There was a story that came out this week that Glee's Diana Agron had been offered the role but didn't want to commit that long.

As for some of the earlier suggestions. New Direction is still doing quite well still - for the time being. It'd be career suicide for any of the members to do the show. Far from a golden opportunity.

I can't think of many big names that would want to commit to a lengthy rehearsal period, much less star in the followup to the much-mocked first SOM, ratings aside.
