As I posted somewhere below in another thread, I heard Alexander's recent appearance with the Boston Pops at Tanglewood, and thought he was fun, but that he did have the tendency to "vegas-up" his singing (lots of made-up notes, etc, straying from the original melodies, even Sondheim, in perhaps an attempt to "style" the songs too much) which did lend a certain hamminess to the performance. That said, I do think Vinnie is a fun choice for him, whether he hams it up or not.

I liked the trailer. I love the show. I'm willing to give it a chance. I'm glad they decided to take such a little-known musical (in terms of general audiences) and try a film version.
