Lots of reporting right now about a recent bout of severe depression that he was going through. Whether or not that led to suicide is still speculation.

A sad day all around. I had been following the reports this morning of that awful NASCAR accident on Saturday (which I hadn't heard about) which resulted in the horrific death of a young racer...and now we've suddenly lost one of the defining comic actors of our time.

Rest in peace, Mr. Williams.
