COMPLETE CREATIVE 'DREAM TEAM' ANNOUNCED FOR

"SIDE SHOW"

TICKETS ON SALE TOMORROW

PERFORMANCES BEGIN TUESDAY, OCTOBER 28
AT BROADWAY'S ST. JAMES THEATRE

New York (August 12, 2014) - Making his Broadway debut, Director and Academy Award winner Bill Condon (Chicago, Dreamgirls, Twilight Breaking Dawn Parts 1 & 2) announces his creative "dream team" behind the look and feel of his critically-lauded reimagining of the musical Side Show which opens on Broadway this fall.

Mr. Condon continues his collaboration from his films Chicago and Dreamgirls with lighting design by nine-time Tony Award winners Jules Fisher & Peggy Eisenhauer (Ragtime, Gypsy, Chicago); set design is by three-time Tony Award nominee David Rockwell (Kinky Boots, Hairspray, Academy Awards); costume design by five-time Tony Award nominee Paul Tazewell (The Color Purple, In the Heights); sound design by Tony Award nominee Peter Hylenski (Motown, After Midnight); hair and wig design by Charles LaPointe (Gentleman's Guide, Motown); make-up design by Cookie Jordan, illusions by Paul Kieve (Pippin, Matilda, Ghost); special make-up effects by the Academy Award winning team Dave Elsy & Lou Elsy (X-Men, Star Wars Episode III, Empire Strikes Back, Indiana Jones), musical direction and arrangements by Sam Davis (Dreamgirls at the Apollo), orchestrations by six time Tony Award nominee Harold Wheeler, (Hairspray, Dreamgirls, The Wiz); and choreography by Tony and Olivier Award nominee Anthony Van Laast (Mamma Mia). Since its inception, Jack Tantleff has serviced as Creative Supervisor. Mr. Condon's vivid production of Side Show seamlessly blends the worlds of carnival, vaudeville, and Hollywood glamour.

Director Bill Condon comments: "Side Show is, in many ways, the ultimate musical commentary on the entertainment industry. The backdrop of 1920's and 30's show business gives us the opportunity to play with realism and fantasy. The entire design team has done such a masterful job creating this world, and it is a thrilling process for all of us to bring this vision to Broadway."

As previously announced, tickets go on sale tomorrow, Wednesday, August 13, and can be purchased by visiting SideShowBroadway.com. Side Show will begin Previews on Broadway Tuesday, October 28 with an official Opening Night on Monday, November 17.

Featuring a "supercharged score" (Charles Isherwood, New York Times), Side Show includes new music by multiple Grammy Award and Oscar winner, Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Tony Award nominee Henry Krieger (Dreamgirls), with book and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Bill Russell and additional book material by Bill Condon.

Side Show is inspired by the remarkable true story of the Hilton twins, Daisy and Violet, who were legends in their time and the highest paid performers on the vaudeville circuit. Side Show is their heartwarming search for first love and acceptance amidst the spectacle of fame and scrutiny under the spotlight.

It was also announced previously that, on the heels of their bravura star turn at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts & La Jolla Playhouse, Erin Davie and Emily Padgett will reprise their leading roles as the famed Violet and Daily Hilton.

The original musical, beloved by legions of fans, premiered on Broadway in 1997, and was hailed as "Something to marvel at" (Ben Brantley, New York Times). It went on to earn four Tony Award nominations including Best Musical, Best Original Score of a Musical and Best Book of a Musical.

Complete cast and additional information for Side Show will be announced shortly.
