Hey, Devlno. I do remember someone posting that Merman sang "World, Take Me Back" on the runway, but I don't think it was me. Unless I reported that I'd read people online remembering it that way, but I didn't remember it that way.

It does seem odd that whey they were out of town and it was decided that the end of the first act needed to be a big number for Dolly rather than a big number for Horace, no one said, "What about 'World, Take Me Back'? Or at least a number like 'World, Take Me Back,' since it's probably not a song that Channing can pull off." Of course, perhaps someone did say that.

Anyway, with Merman it was odd to have both "World, Take Me Back" in the second scene and then "Parade" at the end of the act, but it was Merman and you just accepted it because you wanted to hear her sing and she really sold "World, Take Me Back."

What would have made more sense would have been to just bring back only "Love, Look in My Window" and have it sung where Merman sang "World, Take Me Back. That's was done decades later at Paper Mill and perhaps it's been done that way in other productions over the years.

The similarity in the titles of the two songs is kind of interesting.
