I was sort of blown away by him in Bengal Tiger. Maybe I just wasn't expecting him to be able to command the stage like that without resorting to any comic business or intonations.

I think that I posted here more than once that I thought he could be great in any number of major roles in classic plays and that I hoped he would soon come back and do more stage work. I could so easily imagine him as Jaques in As You Like It, Shylock, the Fool or possibly Lear, Hickey in The Iceman Cometh, Vanya and Gaev and possibly Chebutykin, either Nat Miller or Sid, Hamm, perhaps Willy Loman. And what a Cap'n Andy or Pseudolus (if he sang well enough) he might have been.

I was very sorry when a couple of years went by without him returning to the stage. He really could have been a major stage actor.
