Having seen it and spoken to a couple of creatives afterward, I doubt they've ever even heard of Anyone Can Whistle. This is a version of the real-life 2008 financial collapse in Iceland. Fun night at the theater despite a couple quibbles with the storytelling.

Thank God there was an intermission at which time I could flee--so bear that in mind--but would that there was ONE lyric that could approach the work of Sondheim, even as early as '64. The Cady Huffman mayor(ess?)reminded me of ACW but nothing else did. Pleasant soft rock melodies written by someone who can't write lyrics or book(even with his brother's collaboration). A trite story allied to a ridiculous concept, boring, and a waste of the talents of the entire cast.

I stayed for both acts (it was pouring outside last night). What was the point of this? Nothing in it was sharp enough to be satire or funny enough to be parody. The concept (story taking place inside someone's elbow- referred to as Elbowville) added nothing but a few silly references to other body parts (like West Boobie).

Talented cast had to deal with poor material and a whole lot of undistingished music and lyrics. There were a few dances, but I don't remember why.

They never really explain what causes the financial collapse that figures so significantly in the story.

Cady Hoffman's outlandish costumes were a highlight. Sound system was awful.

Another expensive flop for the unlucky Minetta Lane.
