Brigadoon song The Love of My Life -- Question

Posted by: BroadwayTonyJ 04:10 pm EDT 08/13/14

I've seen 2 productions of Brigadoon in Chicago over the last 20 years and in both of them the verse to this song,
"Oh, he was a poet, a rhymer was he" was cut. Has this been the case in most other productions? Is this line just considered politically incorrect nowadays?

I think the song (when performed complete) is quite funny and loses much of its impact when abbreviated.
