I can't see why it would be considered any more or less politically incorrect than the other verses.

I'd guess they just wanted to make the song shorter.

Especially if the Meg is as unfunny as . . . I won't name the actress.

Changing the subject a bit (but staying on the song), for a while when City Opera did the show, they used an alternative, "military" orchestration for the verse about the soldier. I think it may have come from the 1980 Broadway production, but otherwise they stuck to the original orchestrations, both for the rest of the song and the rest of the show.

Then the last time NYCO did the show, with McGlinn conducting, they used the original orchestration for that verse. But I have wondered where the alternative orchestration came from and whether it was in the licensed materials.

I suppose it may have been a Paul Gemignani improvement, especially since it was heavy on the drums.
