I am interested in this event. Is it fairly reason to get to the venue without a car?

It's really easy, actually. You can walk there (which I did once) or take the light rail.

sorry I had stepped out-you can take path or nj transit to penn station,newark-about 25 mins from penn station ny-when you get off in Newark-go downstairs and follow signs for Newark light rail-you'll see a mcdonalds in the station-go down that staircase and theres a light rail that will drop you right outside theater-its only about a 5 minute ride-the theater is really nice and there's a nice grassy area outside-remember to get your ticket before you get on either train-there's a $5 service charge on train-you get the light rail tix from a kiosk-be sure to get them punched in validator stand-it's really a nice place-enjoy! ps-get the light rail on the left-the one on right does not go to theater!

Thanks. The last time I went to Newark to this venue, I did not know about the light rail option and the walk was rather long from the main station, near a highway.

It's worth noting that there are two train stations in Newark. The one that is close to NJPAC is Newark PENN Station and not Newark BROAD STREET Station.

While most of the NJT trains stop at one or the other, I don't think any stop at both. Make sure the train that you take stops at PENN.

Yes, it's a 3-5 minute walk from the train station.

I would say more of a 10-12 minute walk, all told, obviously depending on how fast you walk. But very walkable, esp. on a nice day, if you don't want to wait for the light rail.

In addition to the light rail, they used to have some kind of shuttle bus from Newark Penn Station to NJPAC. Do they still have that, or is it no more because of the light rail?

Yes, and I had a great time. I don't think there was much time for rehearsal because there were a few flubs, but the casting was all very good.

The performers sang without mikes, which was refreshing. There was commentary by Joe Iconis with quotes from Meredith Wilson about the putting on the show on the road, reactions from producers, etc.

I went mostly to see Laura Osnes and Santino Fontana, who did not disappoint, but all the others were wonderful, too, including the ensemble. Santino sang You've Got Trouble, Laura did Goodnight My Someone and they both sang Till There Was You. Jeffrey Denman got to dance and sing Marian the Librian which he choreographed along with Shipoopi. Ann Harada got to do an Irish accent as Marian's mother in Piano Lesson. The barbershop quartet numbers were lovely. Santino's girlfriend Jessica H. did a lovely Will I Ever Tell You.

The original orchestrations were used and they said the orchestra was the same size as the original show.
