I do not get the appeal of Mr. Yazbek. I have found him to be bland - the weak link in the LuPone Gypsy.

Are there no other NYC dancer-actors that could do On The Town?

So I just cannot imagine Yazbek having the charisma to connect with an audience at 54B.

He's got a classic look, he's handsome,
he's very accomplished as a dancer, he is earnest and engaging

I will admit his voice as such is not particularly distinctive and there is something vaguely odd about its high
pitch (little boy voice, such manly looks).

who currently or recently do you think would be his competition?

He didn't really sell the "I've Got Your Number" song in the Encores "Little Me", and that should be a show-stopper. The not-too-great choreography didn't help, but his execution and singing weren't outstanding. He's a good-looking guy and he can move, but where's today's Harold Lang? Paging Michael Berresse... though he's probably too mature for the "On the Town" fellas.

I agree about I've Got Your Number. The number was no longer sexy. Michael Park was closer to what I was expecting in the Roundabout production. Would have loved to have seen Swen Swenson.

I think that if someone had come in to recreate the original Fosse choreography for Yazbeck to perform at City Center, he would have torn the place apart. The choreography he was given to do was completely uninspired.

Totally agree. I don't think that the failure of that number to fully land was in any way Yazbeck's fault.

No probably about it. Michael Berresse is 50 - and while still very handsome and fit, would look like Chip and Ozzie's father.

I saw his act at 54 Below and reviewed it on TheatrePizzazz.com He was sensational and danced up a storm with a great band and two great other dancers. He also sang great. Again, it was an autobiographical show and was very vivid about his stage mother.

Tony's show sounds like a winner to me.
