I think all the songs that Rocky and Adrian sing are written in the style in which they would talk. So they work for me. The ensemble songs are kind of forgettable, though I did like the Patriotic number.

I agree about the staging but the show would not have worked with Andy Karl who was the perfect Rocky. I hope he gets a big part soon that fits him like the Rocky glove.
