I, too, am struggling with the tone of this post, Bruce. It's got to be harder to produce a one-off at the Hayworth than to produce at a theater with a solid subscription base. Most shows have struggled to survive at the Hayworth, and it's a nice little theater. And is it really so surprising that an "announced" production didn't open? In this economy? I agree with your assessment of CARRIE, but I think it's fair to wait until the production opens before you write the review.
