Well, that explains the next season at The Orpheum only. I do hope something gets worked out to continue usage of The Curran. As well as someone else becoming the face of the organization in San Francisco. Though I had my problems with her choices, I did appreciate seeing her mingle within the community.

What happens to Curran staff?

Does anyone know what happens to the Curran ushers when the theatre leaves "N" (will they go back to BoB?)

Normally, when a house goes dark, does SHN shift ushers to active theaters? (or does it come down to union bidding?)

Yes, SHN does shift their ushers between their theaters if the usher wants to work at more than one theatre. I always appreciate seeing the same ushers at the Orpheum, Curran, and Golden Gate.

The loss of the Curran would be tragic. I certainly hope they work it out. I love that house.

And totally agree that someone needs to be the local face of the organization. Love her or hate her, there's no denying that Carole Shorenstein-Hays made that organization what it is.

To broadway houses for pre broadway tryout. But large houses like ahmanson and seattle paramount have launched many shows.

I love the Curran, too. Great house and of the three, in the better part of town. The block is electric when ACT and the Curran are both open. Better parking and dining options, too.

I agree the Curran is actually a theatre house while the other were former movie houses. When we go to Orpheum and Golden Gate there is no decent place to eat in those areas let along getting a drink before the show.

Martuni's

My go-to spot after the Orpheum (as well as NCTC, Ballet, Opera, etc.) is Martuni's. Can sometimes be a bit crowded, but nice place for a night cap.
