South Bay Musical Theatre (SBMT) performers have performed concerts of showtunes from the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s, and for this 4th annual BROADWAY BY THE DECADE concert, they will sing from the shows of the 1970s.

You’ll hear songs from the hit shows, such as Jesus Christ, Superstar; Evita; The Wiz; Chicago; A Chorus Line; Annie; Pippin; You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown; Grease; Godspell; Sweeney Todd; The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas; and A Little Night Music; as well as songs from forgotten shows like Shenandoah; Ballroom; Cyrano; A Broadway Musical; Rex; The Grand Tour; Carmelina; and Two By Two.

Jay Steele will be the host/emcee for the evening, with Brad Handshy accompanying all of the singers on piano. The cast is stellar and includes:

Nicholas Adams, Stephane Alwyn, James Creer, Morgan Dayley, Karen DeHart, Adrien Gleason, Larry Hayes, Jeffrey Henson, Carly Honfi, Corey Liggans, Walter M. Mayes, Mary Melnick, Diane Milo, Chris Moylan, Glenna Murillo, Nick Nakashima, Brian Palac, Mindy Pedlar, Jocelyn Pickett, Barbara Reynolds, Tim Reynolds, Sheila Savage, Kereli Sengstack, Katherine Stein, Molly Thornton, Bob Visini, and Christine Wait.

Wow really? Broadway by the Decade - very original. I'm sure Scott Siegel would be very pleased you just took his long-running concept that he's been doing forever (Broadway by the Year) and just, well, did you credit him with the concept?

Reminds me of this group called Unsung Musicals in NY. Gee, wonder where they got THEIR name?

I'm sure your concerts are wonderful - but you should give credit where credit is due, unless you have and I somehow missed it.

I bet that before Scott Siegel came along, nobody ever did a concert of songs from Broadway musicals from a specific time period.

Oh, MikeR, I know you feel it necessary to do this sort of thing, but really - why don't you point out to me and everyone else who did it prior to Mr. Siegel and who called their show Broadway by the Year or Broadway by the anything else. People were around long before me doing the kinds of albums I ended up doing, especially Ben Bagley. None of them were called Unsung Musicals, Unsung Sondheim or anything else Unsung - so you think that the Unsung Musicals company didn't steal my title - because they did. Oh, well. This group is doing EXACTLY what Mr. Siegel does and they should give credit where credit is due. Since Mr. Siegel has been doing this for MANY years it's blatantly obvious.
