That's almost six weeks from the announcement of nominations until the rewards. CBS apparently thinks they need the time to promote the show but I think it has the opposite effect. After a while people start to say "Aren't the Tony Awards done already?" Press agents have to work an extra week of frantic attempts to get their nominated clients in front of the public. It's all very exhausting. Five weeks (or even four) would be plenty.
