For the week ended Sunday, Broadway grosses totaled $19,843,322 for 24 shows, down over $3 million from the prior week which totaled $22,905,607 for 25 shows. In the comparable post-Labor Day week last year, 24 shows grossed $18,374,971.
All shows were down except It’s Only A Play which went from playing five previews the prior week to a full week of eight previews. It grossed $1,163,626, averaging nearly $138 a ticket. The play did better than Beautiful, knocking the latter down one spot on the top ten grossing list.
Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill was dark last week. The show returns this week and continues through October 5.
Of the family shows, now that the kids are back to school, Matilda dropped the most: $-293,735.
