From a Producer point of view, I get i. Why should you give equal pay to performers who are not required to even be in the building for all that time? At least with the kids in the Broadway company of Lion King or Les Mis, the kids who are not performing that evening are there and act as "standbys" if something happens. Beauty and the Beast was the same.

But, from a moral point of view, it's shady. The leads in Oliver were really making that little? Yuck.

The article mentions that no child may perform more than four shows a week. That's pretty much what happens here. I wonder why most of the big shows don't just split the roles between two. Maybe it means they can only be in the building for four? Melanin they would not be able to standby for the other set of kids
