Well, that may be fine with you and your interpretation of what it symbolizes... but it's not the reason the made their decision. They didn't say "We elected to honor her by not dimming the lights"... Also, I'm not sure it's possible to turn them brighter, but if they can and it's noticeable, that might be a better way to honor everyone. I mean do you think Joan Rivers is the only funny person to have had a career on stage and whose family said they'd want us to keep laughing and enjoying life? Few performers would want anything else... turning them brighter if possible would be a cool way to say "you made it brighter". I understand the dimming as a concept too though. Either way I don't think your reasoning is specific to Joan, and I certainly know it wasn't what was being reasoned when they chose not to dim them for her.
