I agree, they need to come up with specific guidelines, and then not ignore them just because someone very famous and beloved but who did little theatre has died.

But the outcry over Rivers suggests that perhaps it won't work. If there's an outcry every time, what will they do?

I certainly agree that after honoring Williams and Gandolfini, it's no surprise there was an outcry over the decision not to honor Rivers.
